Mike LaValle is a New York–based bassist and composer who has worked with Vanessa Carlton, Emily King, Kanye West, Mac Miller, Ana Frango Elétrico, Waldonys, and Krystle Warren. A former member of Greta’s Bakery (Decca Records), he has also composed for This American Life with Christina Courtin and co-created Nite Farm as Pilot Violet. His solo work includes the Forró-inspired album Zabumbanas. A new record, centered on his work as a composer and improviser, is forthcoming.
